Robbert Wouters, Assistant Professor

Robbert Wouters is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery of the Erasmus MC Rotterdam. He has a clinical background as a hand therapist and obtained his MSc in Clinical Health Sciences at Utrecht University.

His PhD research focused on outcome measurement and treatment for thumb base osteoarthritis. He leads the THumb osteoarthritis Exercise TriAl (THETA), which is funded by ZonMW. Robbert was a Research Fellow at the International Consortium for Health Outcome Measurement (ICHOM) in 2018 for the development of the ICHOM Standard Set for Hand and Wrist conditions together with project chair Steven Hovius.

In 2021, he obtained the prestigious Veni grant, for his project entitled: "Predicting individualized clinically relevant outcomes: a new method for decision support using routine outcome measurements." He also runs several other projects on personalized medicine, clinical decision-making, and data-driven healthcare
